Countless love stories have been told in the cinema. Some of them remained alive in the memory of the spectators, others went unnoticed. What Makes a Memorable Love Story? What’s left of Hollywood’s happy ending recipes?
Director Joachim Lafosse proposes another approach to love: a deep connection between two people, put to the test by the bipolar disorder that Damien suffers from. A situation in which neither of them wants to find themselves, and yet they have no choice. How do you do all this cool stuff? Is Love Enough to Overcome Illness? What do you do when a child is caught in this situation?
The great asset of the film lies in the two actors themselves – Damien Bonnard (“Les misérables”, “The French Dispatch”) and Leïla Bekhti (“Paris, je t’aime”, “La source des femmes”, “Un prophète”) -, who borrows their lives, names and feelings to try to answer all these questions without burdening the viewer with their problems.
The film was selected in the Cannes competition, was present in the official selection of the San Sebastian Film Festival, and received 2 nominations for the Cesar Awards in the categories “Best Actor in a Leading Role” and “Best Actress in a Role main”.
The screening is part of a series of 9 warm-up screenings ahead of the 9th edition of the Ceau, Cinema! Festival, which will take place between July 14-17 in Timișoara, being co-founded by the Cultural Film and Big Screen Associations.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.iabilet.ro and in person at the AMBASADA bar within FABER, and the price of a ticket is 15 lei.
Starting April 8, “The Restless” will been running in Romanian cinemas, being distributed by Bad Unicorn.
