Event details

? “I’m an urban animal. I like to hunt down stories about the city and its people and pour them into different forms: poetry, prose, theater. A year ago, I quit my job to have more time to write and make art. This year, I wrote almost 100 pages of the novel I’ve been working on for several years. On July 7, on my birthday, I want to celebrate this small victory with a public reading in Timisoara. Don’t worry, I won’t read all 100 pages, just a few to get you into the story and hopefully pique your curiosity. With love, Rucsandra” ?

? The reading will take place on July 7, from 7 o’clock in the courtyard at FABER or in the Ambasada bistro (in case it rains). Free entrance. The event is not recommended for minors.

? ? “Coxi Club” (working title) is a novel about co-dependency, it is the story of two women born in 1979, who grow up and discover the world together and then realize that their lives and stories have mixed until confusion. Coxi Club – the novel of a generation without a compass, which had the chance to pioneer in many fields and which enjoyed a well-being that parents and grandparents could not even dream of, but with which history is not very generous.

Coxi Club invites the reader to dive into his own existence and contemporaneity, to love and hate the city, loathe his younger self or follow him with Bacchic nostalgia through pubs that no longer exist. Coxi Club is a novel of personal and social anxieties and talks about a form of family that is increasingly common these days – the logical family where friends stand in for biological family members. ? ?

✏️ Rucsandra Pop is an artist and anthropologist. As an artist, she creates – together with other professional or amateur artists and researchers – projects inspired by topics that are difficult or embarrassing for us to talk about, such as domestic violence, infertility, mental health or death. He believes in the power of vulnerability and believes that if we allow ourselves to be vulnerable in front of each other, if we talk and especially if we listen to each other, it will be easier for us to coexist, respect and trust ourselves and the others. Through what she writes and through the projects she is involved in, she wants to create bridges between people and inspire as many women as possible to (re)find and manifest their voice and power.

? In 2016, Rucsandra published Oracle, an object book. Contributed to several volumes as Dear Virginia. Letters from my country (Black Button Books), The Other City. Places and stories from Bucharest-South (University Publishing House “Ion Mincu”/ Zeppelin Association/ SG Studio) or Panglica Neagră. Book of Mourning (Vellant Publishers).

? FABER is an independent cultural center, which was born in 2020, following the rehabilitation in a contemporary form of part of the premises of the United Oil and Soap Factories from 1844, known in recent history as Azur. FABER’s mission is to provide the creative talents of Timisoara with the necessary space and tools to contribute to social and economic changes in the city.

? Social enterprise, model of cultural entrepreneurship, based on a non-profit organization, the EMBASSY has become a meeting place for cool people (NGOs, freelancers, artists, musicians, passionate people, companies), with cool ideas – which we set out to help them move mountains (if that’s what they want).
