Timisoara once again becomes a central point on the map of contemporary art in Eastern Europe, by hosting the 6th edition of the Art Encounters Biennial, from May 30 to July 13, 2025.
Under the theme ,,Bounding Histories. Whispering Tales”, curators Ana Janevski (MoMA New York) and TevΕΎ Logar (independent curator) invite us to reflect on the city’s complex past and discover the hidden stories of emblematic locations: the Garrison Command, a former military building, FABER, a former soap factory, and the headquarters of the Art Encounters Foundation, a space with an industrial and educational history.
The opening weekend (May 30 – June 1) will offer a series of events such as guided tours, meetings with artists and curators, dialogues and conversations with artists, performances, workshops, walks, talks, discussions and much more.
The Art Encounters Biennial 2025 brings together more than 100 works by 60 nationally and internationally famous artists, including five specially commissioned creations for this edition that explore the city’s historical layers.
