Event details

FABER, Timisoara

Until September 30, you can listen to sound fragments from the lives of teenagers from the 70s and 80s, in the most popular installation of the Memory Museum – the Telephone of Memories.

You can pick up his receiver in Timișoara, at FABER (Splaiul Peneș Curcanul, no. 4-5), to listen to 10 sound reconstructions, part of the newest project: Adolescent in Communism – the 70s-80s.

The interactive installation connects us with the past, containing sound reconstructions from the newspapers and news of the time, but also the memories of those who entrusted us with their memories.

“In the second chapter of the Adolescent in Communism project, we wanted to reconstruct and find out the daily lives of those who lived their adolescence between those years: those who knew love, listened to Free Europe on the sly, passed on benches with Ceaușescu and witnessed the devastating earthquake of ’77.
The Memories Phone is a gateway to other times because it contains archival, original content that would not reach so many people without it. What we can promise is that the Telephone of Memories will travel a lot this summer, so that personal histories are heard.” – says Smaranda Pasnicu, co-founder of the Memory Museum and the cultural NGO Punctart.

The Telephone of Memories is currently also in Brașov at the Museum of Memories of Communism, in Iași at the Vasile Alecsandri Museum in Mircești and in Cluj at the “Octavian Goga” County Library.

Telephone of Memories is the most famous installation created for the Museum of Memory, with participation in over 50 indoor and outdoor events, with over 10,000 listenings, in 13 cities. The Memories Phone is a bridge between generations, the connecting element between different ages, interactive, emotional and educational.

The Memory Museum is a project of the cultural NGO Punctart, a digital capsule of collective history that is built day by day with everyone’s memories. At the same time, the Memory Museum project was conceived as an educational and cultural endeavor that promotes the national heritage by analyzing some significant historical moments in the evolution of Romania and the use of new technologies as a common language with the young public.
