What is bioplastics and why is it important to know it better?

We invite teenagers aged 10 to 14 to participate in a guided tour and hands-on workshop within the exhibition “Chemical Connections”. The proposed activity opens a conversation about the materials that surround us and our (almost absent) relationship with them. We start with a guided tour adapted for young people, which introduces the context of the exhibition and raises questions about how an industry such as the chemical industry is documented, perceived and transmitted.

Subsequently, we focus on bioplastic, a material increasingly present in our lives, but often understood superficially. We explore what the “bio” in bioplastic means, how it is produced, what myths surround it and what forms it takes when used not only in industries, but also in art and critical design.

In the practical part of the workshop, participants will work in a small creative laboratory format: they will analyze and experiment directly with bioplastic granules and films, leaving traces, questions and objects resulting from observation and intuition. This activity aims to translate complex themes (such as industrialization, recycling, material ecology and critical thinking about “sustainability”) into an accessible and challenging form for young people.
Participation is free, but places are limited. You can register by filling out the form: https://form.typeform.com/to/P7B5Iv3y
