The crisis in Ukraine has tested our ability to be good hosts for Ukrainians, for large numbers of people in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. So far, the response of the citizens of Timisoara, at the individual and institutional level, has been adequate and generous. But more than seven months have passed since the beginning of the war and Ukrainians are starting to build another "home" in Timisoara. Whether it is short, medium or long term, their stay represents an opportunity to build new things, beneficial to everyone: speeches, partnerships, actions, projects, strategies or even organizations.
𝐓𝐞𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐟𝐟 will tell us about the role foreigners can have in the development of the city and about the value of intercultural dialogue. Why can it be valuable to all of us if Ukrainians would get involved civically? And what opportunities are there for Ukrainian or Romanian-Ukrainian initiatives at the local level?
The event is part of the 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, organized by Helixconnect Europe and FABER, and supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union.
𝐁𝐢𝐨 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫:
Member of the curatorial team of European Capital of Culture TIMIȘOARA 2023, expert in community engagement and social inclusion, Teodora Borghoff is a local development expert, with extensive experience in facilitating participatory processes with multiple stakeholders, project design and project implementation for various structures ranging from NGOs to public administration.
She has contributed in Timișoara’s candidacy for the European Capital of Culture Title from various positions and perspectives: first as executive director of the Timișoara European Capital of Culture Association (February-December 2012), later on as community facilitator and content editor of the bid book (January – December 2016). Her experience in projects which reconcile and activate the members of the community was enriched as an EU-AID senior volunteer, and lobby and advocacy advisor in Ethiopia, and as programme director at the Timișoara Community Foundation.

Криза в Україні перевірила нашу здатність бути добрими господарями для українців, для великої кількості людей, які терміново потребують гуманітарної допомоги. Поки що реакція громадян Тімішоари на індивідуальному та інституційному рівнях була адекватною та щедрою. Але минуло більше семи місяців від початку війни і українці починають будувати черговий «дім» у Тімішоарі. Незалежно від того, чи це короткострокове, середньострокове чи довгострокове перебування, їхнє перебування являє собою можливість будувати нові речі, корисні для всіх: виступи, партнерства, дії, проекти, стратегії чи навіть організації.
Теодора Боргофф розповість нам про роль іноземців у розвитку міста та про цінність міжкультурного діалогу. Чому для всіх нас може бути цінним, якби українці залучалися у громадську діяльність? А які можливості є для українських чи румунсько-українських ініціатив на місцевому рівні?
Подія є частиною проекту CONNECT, Community for Timisoara, організованого Helixconnect Europe і FABER за підтримки Європейського інституту інновацій і технологій (EIT), органу Європейського Союзу.

Експерт із залучення громади та соціальної інтеграції, Теодора Боргхофф є експертом з місцевого розвитку, має великий досвід у сприянні процесам участі багатьох зацікавлених сторін, розробці та реалізації проектів для різних структур, починаючи від неурядових організацій і закінчуючи державним управлінням.
Вона брала участь у отриманні Тімішоарою титулу Культурної столиці Європи 2023 з різних позицій та з різних точок зору: спочатку як виконавчий директор Timișoara European Capital of Culture Association (лютий-грудень 2012), пізніше як фасилітатор спільноти та контент-редактор книги заявок (січень – грудень 2016 р.). Її досвід у проектах, які примирюють і активізують членів спільноти, збагачувався також досвідом старшого волонтера EU-AID, радника з лобіювання та адвокації в Ефіопії, а також як програмного директора у Timișoara Community Foundation.
