In September, the FABER project, conceived and implemented by the FOR architecture office, was nominated for the Mies Van der Rohe 2022 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture.
Faber.community is a project whose story began in 2017, when a group of important actors from the cultural, civic and business community in Timișoara decided to put their resources together for an ambitious goal: to build a place that promotes positive development in the community and their city in the long run.
Together with the FOR team, we started by buying a relatively anonymous industrial building as an architecture, which we then reinvented from turnkey. In this approach, architects are more than project managers: they are also founders, investors and users of the resulting space.
In the approximately 3 years that the entire transformation process took, we have been working closely together to develop FABER from idea to use. With plans, budgets, layouts, laws and calendars ahead. 24/7. From home, on the job site or in makeshift offices. With pencil, mouse, phone or drill in hand. Enjoying or arguing… in short, building together. It was a crazy, difficult and very nice process at the same time.
Congratulations to the FOR team for the nomination and thanks for joining us on this beautiful adventure!
