Ioan Both is a University Lecturer at the Department of Steel Structures and Structural Mechanics at Politehnica University of Timișoara. His research covers the response of steel structures with tensioned elements, the cyclic behavior of structural steels, the response of steel elements and connections in fire situations, the capacity of lightweight elements of cold-formed corrugated beams, and back-to-back assembled elements made of cold-formed profiles.
His research combines experimental laboratory testing and finite element modeling using general and dedicated computer programs. Ioan has collaborated with researchers from the Czech Technical University in Prague, the Technical University of Munich, the University of Ljubljana, and the University of Zagreb.
Complementing his research and teaching activities, his work is grounded in practical applications, through the study of elements and connections used in modern buildings, as well as through the design of structures for private and commercial projects.
