Marian Neagul is a postdoctoral researcher at the eAustria Institute and an Associate Professor at West University of Timișoara. His general research areas include machine learning, distributed systems, computer networks, and operating systems. Recently, he has focused on machine learning applied to Earth observation, Earth observation platforms, and cloud computing, particularly on orchestration, deployment, and configuration management.
Marian has been involved in numerous research projects in areas ranging from grid computing and cloud computing to digital preservation. His research work includes building a PaaS (platform as a service) and API (application programming interface) for cloud applications, model-driven development of cloud applications, and research on self-organizing clouds. Marian is also involved in standardization activities with ESA (European Space Agency) and OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium), particularly in the areas of exploitation platforms and Earth observation data processing specifications.
