Open Call Young Matters

Are you a student in Timișoara with a project or idea that could transform the city? Apply to the Young Matters open call!

We encourage you to submit creative, innovative ideas that could offer solutions to issues in the community, neighborhood, or city. You have the freedom to explore local themes connected with European or global ones, such as climate change, artificial intelligence, political systems, and social mechanisms. Complete the form by September 1st, and we will get back to you by September 9th: https://bit.ly/young-matters

Whether your project is just an idea or already implemented, we’d love to see it! You have the chance to participate in an interdisciplinary experience where you can develop your project, guided by 4 international mentors and collaborating with colleagues from all faculties: arts, architecture, automation and computing, or chemistry, biology, etc.

Selected students will take part in a one-day Ideathon on September 24th, during which, guided by international mentors, they will form multidisciplinary teams to develop their projects through brainstorming sessions, hands-on work, and mentorship with the help of tutors.

Each team will present the result of the Ideathon to a jury that will select 4 teams to participate in the Young Matters summer school, where over a week, they will finalize their projects to be showcased in the Woven Secrets exhibition at FABER, opening on October 3rd.

The exhibition will also open with a conference, featuring a space for student presentations and guided tours of the resulting artifacts.

The program doesn’t stop there; participants will engage in a dialogue with local stakeholders (entrepreneurs, public administration, investors), where they will receive feedback on their projects and discuss the problems they aim to solve and the scenarios for the city’s economic and social development.

Even if your project is not selected for the Young Matters summer school, all ideas submitted to the program will be presented online and in hardcopy format.

Program calendar:
Open call: July 5 – September 1
Student selection: September 2 – September 9
Q&A session: August 16 – 18
Ideathon: September 24
Summer school: September 25 – October 2
Woven Secrets exhibition: October 3 – November 30
